Philp, George F abt 1871 Poplar Son Camberwell London

I did know that my grandfather, George Philp (b. 1870ish) was married when he had an affair with my grandmother. All four children were born out of wedlock (my uncle geoff was horrified whne he found this out as he was such a respectable man!).

I believe that George's first wife was a pianist and after she died, George married Florence (my grandmother) and made an honest woman of her!

I remember as a child going to see 'Auntie Lottie' and an 'Auntie Ivy' w ho were very well to do. I was told that they were my mum's half sisters but am not so sure.

George Philp died in the 1950s of Parkinsons disease I believe. He also abused his two daughters, so my mum and aunt were both glad when he died.

There was also talk in the family of one of George's other daughters (whether from marriage or another mistress) being raped at the age of 18 and giving birth to a son who went on to become a Professor.
